Let's start the conversation.
Whether you are a startup, a passionate individual, or a well-established company, we’re committed to giving you the flexibility to test your product early and often. You come up with the idea, Shapeable will bring it to life.
about shapeable
Shapeable is a new kind of product
development firm specializing in early stage
iteration. We can start anywhere from proof
of concept right up until manufacturing to
help you develop a product for humans.

why us
INTERNET CONNECTED CAMERA
The goal of this project was to create a prototype of a camera that could be tested as a complete system with real world users. The camera had to be easily installed in different surfaces and locations, 100% splash proof, use solar power, store energy for at least 4 days and use infrared LEDs for night vision.
EXPERT SUPPORT
With many years of experience in product development, we have the expertise to smoothly guide you from concept to prototype.
AGILE DEVELOPMENT
At Shapeable we embrace working in short, manageable sprints. As feedback from targeted users informs design choices, we’re able to quickly pivot.
LOW-RISK
Many product development firms ask you to commit to them from proof of concept all the way through manufacturing. Working with us, you can decide whether the prototype needs to be tweaked or whether you’re ready to continue scaling production.

meet our founder
ALAN MOND holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan State University and M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from University of Michigan – Ann Arbor. He specializes in 3D modeling, prototype creation, small volume production, PCB design, electro-mechanical system integration and engineering analysis. After working for nine years in the Automotive Industry at Bosch and New Eagle doing control systems development and advanced combustion research, he started a government-focused startup and launched an automotive developer toolkit called Carloop.io.
Alan is passionate about functional designs that can make an impact on the world. After working as an independent consultant, Alan founded Shapeable to fill a gap he had identified in the hardware creation process: fast iteration of hardware prototypes and proof of concepts. Product development was too slow and high-risk for people looking to test and quickly begin envisioning how their product might work. There was also a convergence of rapid prototyping tools such as Fusion 360, 3D printers and low cost PCB manufacturers that made prototyping easier to iterate on.
how we work
Phase One
PLANNING
Discoverycall
Time 20 minutes
Goal Get to know you and your project
Topics Budget, prototype purpose and project goals, our services
Phase One
PLANNING
Planningcall
Time 1 hour
Goal To arrive at a statement of work and list of actionable deliverables
Topics Clearly defining goals and feature requirements of prototype, setting up further prototype definition consultations (if needed)
Phase One
PLANNING
Statement ofWork signing
Now the real fun begins: We begin designing your prototype.
Phase Two
DESIGN
Conceptvisualization
We’ll create an initial set of diagrams, or rough 3D models to make sure we’re moving in the right direction. If it is purely an electronics project this will look like a simple electrical schematic of all components.
Phase Two
DESIGN
Prototypeiteration
After you’ve signed off on the drawing, we get started on creating the physical prototype. We typically keep the iteration cycles short so you can provide input quickly.
Phase Three
DELIVERY
Prototypedelivery
Once the prototype is finished, we can ship it to you or you can pick it up. Depending on the development stage we’ll include accompanying manufacturing specification files, or assembly instructions.

faq
WHAT’S YOUR PRICING STRUCTURE?
We generally charge by time and materials, but for some projects with very defined specifications, we’ll do a fixed bid. Get in contact with us and we can figure out what works best for you.
WHAT KIND OF PROTOTYPES DO YOU DO? WHAT INDUSTRY DO YOU WORK MOST WITH?
Shapeable does everything. We work on projects ranging from custom automotive applications to complex furniture shapes. Though we have extensive experience with internet connected products, we’ve got the skills needed to take on a diverse array of projects.
DO YOU PROVIDE DESIGN FOR MANUFACTURING SERVICES?
We include manufacturing considerations as early in the process as possible – as soon as the prototype starts maturing. At Shapeable, product development is an iterative process and Design for Manufacturing (DFM) is not an afterthought – it is embedded into the design of the prototype.
DO WE NEED TO MEET IN PERSON?
We love meeting in person but we know that is not always possible. We work with the majority of our clients remotely, and are happy to do so if that’s what you prefer.
HOW DO WE START A PROJECT?
After we’ve defined the specifications for your prototype,
we create a statement of work and send over a contract via email. Once you return it signed, we can get started!
ONCE OUR PROJECT WITH SHAPEABLE IS COMPLETE, WHAT CAN WE EXPECT AS A NEXT STEP?
When we start a project, we set out to answer questions such as “is this concept feasible” or “will this prototype have enough functionality to get feedback from my target customers?” A project is done when the prototype can answer these questions. If you decide to work with us all the way up until manufacturing, we’ll deliver the detailed manufacturing files you’ll need to move on to a contract manufacturer and get quotes for mass production. We have well established partners that can help you with low, mid and high volume production.
